Description
The Medician Villa Poggio Bartoli was used by the Medici as a country house. After the Medici family it passed to the noble family Baldocci, whose coat of arms is still on the edge of the villa's facade. The Baldocci family died out in the year 1767, thus the villa passed into the possession of other Florentine noble families. Also these families are remembered with their coat of arms on the facade. The Peratoners purchased the property from the Papiani. From then on, the villa was the administration of a modern and vast farm of these times, of 47 sharecropping holdings, scattered over more than thousand of hectares. In the middle of the 19th century, there were living 450 persons. After the beginning of the 20th century, the Poggio Bartoli estate was a laboratory of the new rotation of crops standards and of cattle-breeding. Today, the Medician Villa Poggio Bartoli has completely been changed. It has become a single holiday villa with swimming pool in Tuscany. At disposal is the whole villa for 18 people or only the possibility of an overnight stay in one of the marvellous rooms (breakfast included). Directly adjacent to the building, there is a medieval church with frescoes that can probably be attributed to the Beato Angelico. The Medici Villa Poggio Bartoli is situated in the Mugello, outside of the characteristic village Vicchio, an area where important artists like Giotto or the Beato Angelico were born. The villa dates back to the 15th century and was one of the Medici country houses. During the restoration works have been maintained the original materials (stone, terracotta, doors etc.) and style of the building, creating a magnificent holiday accommodation. The villa offers space for about 12 or 18 people (9 luxurious suites each with bathroom) to pass a holiday of relaxation in complete privacy. It is also possible to rent only the rooms with breakfast. The splendid halls of the villa have been furnished with valuable furniture, important oil paintings, often with important Florentine personalities, and completed with tasteful materials and accessories. The suites are all very spacious, also equipped with antique furniture, combined with modern comfort (satellite TV, telephone with isdn lines and safe) and have their own bathroom some with jacuzzi bathtub, shower and marvellous marble fittings. The Medician Villa Poggio Bartoli is extending over 1000 sq.m. over 3 floors. The ground floor is composed as follows: big terrace with table, chairs and deck-chairs, spacious entrance hall,enormous kitchen with all amenities like 2 fridges, TV, 2 dishwashers, microwave, electric oven, stone oven for pizza etc., big fireplace to be also used as barbecue,bathroom,spacious dining-room living-room with TV, spacious living-room with fireplace, decorated with frescoes and valuable wooden furniture studio with TV, radio and CD-player hall with nice view, billiard room The first floor is composed of: 1 suite with TV, radio and CD-player with big tub and shower, 1 suite with TV and jacuzzi. The second floor is composed of: Spacious suite equipped with TV, radio and CD-player; to the bathroom with shower are leading steps Suite equipped with TV, telephone with isdn lines ana a safe. From the Suite, one can arrive through a narrow winding starecase the antique tower, was once used as dovecot. It is possible to enjoy a marvellous 360deg view over the whole area. In the left wing of the villa, there is situated the suite 'Pomellato', whereas in the right wing are located 'Harry Winston' and the 'David Morris' suite.
